Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 14, 2026
TatFinder, LLC ("TatFinder," "we," "us") runs a marketplace that helps people discover tattoo artists and book appointments, and helps artists run their bookings, at tatfinder.com and in our mobile apps (together, the "Service"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. We are based in Seattle, Washington, USA.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account information. When you sign in with Google (or another sign-in provider we offer), we receive your name, email address and profile photo from that provider. We don't receive your password.
- Client profile. Things like your city, the styles and artists you save, and your booking preferences.
- Artist and shop profile. Shop name and address, portfolio images, styles, rates, availability, deposit and cancellation policies, and the other details you choose to list.
- Verification information. Artists may be asked to provide a tattoo license and related documents so we can confirm they are licensed to work. Some identity or background screening may be handled by a specialized provider; if so, we'll tell you before you start.
- In-person artist onboarding. If you join TatFinder as an artist with one of our team in person, we also record your legal name, phone number, your shop's contact details, the artist agreements you sign (which documents and versions, a fingerprint of the exact text, the date, and your drawn or typed signature), your answer about liability insurance, whether our team member saw your license card, and which team member onboarded you. This is kept privately — it is not shown on your profile. We email you a copy of what you signed.
- Bookings and messages. Appointment requests, dates, design ideas, reference images and the messages you exchange with artists or clients through the Service.
- Dream boards. The boards you create and what you save to them: artists' work you pin, links you paste, and photos you upload. Boards are private to your account. Uploaded photos are resized on your device before upload, which removes their location data, and are stored in private storage that only you can open. When you delete a photo, a board or your account, the files are deleted too.
- Reviews. Reviews and ratings you write.
- Support requests. What you send us when you contact us or fill out a form on our site.
Information collected when you use the Service
- Location. If you allow it in your browser or device, your approximate location so we can show nearby artists. You can turn this off at any time in your browser or device settings.
- Device and log information. IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, and timestamps. Our hosting and security providers keep these logs to run and protect the Service.
- Local storage and analytics. We use your browser's storage to keep you signed in and remember settings, and Vercel Web Analytics (which sets no cookies) to count page views. We do not use advertising cookies or pixels. Details and the analytics switch are on our Cookie Preferences page.
Information from other services you connect
- Payments. Payments and deposits are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects your card details directly; we receive only limited information such as the payment status, amount and the last four digits of the card. Artists who receive payouts set up a Stripe account, and Stripe collects the identity and bank details it needs for that.
- Calendar sync (artists). If you connect Google Calendar or add a calendar feed (ICS link), we read event times so bookings don't overlap with your other appointments. If you allow two-way sync, we also add TatFinder bookings to your calendar. You can disconnect it at any time.
2. How we use information
- To create and secure your account and sign you in.
- To show artist profiles, portfolios and shop locations, and to help you search and match with artists.
- To handle booking requests, deposits, payments, payouts and messages between clients and artists.
- To verify artist licenses and keep the marketplace safe.
- To send service messages such as booking confirmations, reminders and account notices.
- To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
- To prevent fraud, abuse and security problems, and to enforce our Terms of Service.
- To understand how the Service is used and improve it.
- To comply with the law.
AI-powered search and matching
Features such as Explore search and Smart Match send what you type, plus public artist details like styles, prices, location and availability, to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate results. We don't send your payment details. Our provider processes this data to return results to us and is not permitted to use it to train its models. Please don't include sensitive personal information in what you type.
3. Google user data
When you sign in with Google, we use your basic profile (name, email address and photo) only to create and identify your account. If an artist connects Google Calendar, we use calendar data only to check availability and, if enabled, to add TatFinder bookings to that calendar.
TatFinder's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or let people read it except where you ask us to (for example, for support), where it's needed for security or legal reasons, or where it has been aggregated and anonymized.
4. How we share information
- With other users, to make bookings work. When you request a booking, the artist sees your name, photo, request details and messages. Clients see artists' public profiles and the details artists share in a booking.
- Publicly. Artist profiles, portfolios and shop locations are public and may appear in search engines and map services. Reviews are public, along with the reviewer's display name.
- With service providers that run parts of the Service for us under contract, including Supabase (database, sign-in and storage), Vercel and Cloudflare (hosting and security), Stripe (payments), Google (sign-in, Maps and Calendar), and Anthropic (AI search) and Salesforce (our customer-relationship records of the artists and shops we work with, and of founding-artist sign-ups from our homepage — business contact details, onboarding and verification status, the agreements signed and a copy of the signature, never license numbers or payment details). They may use the information only to provide their services to us.
- For legal reasons, if we believe it's needed to comply with the law or legal process, to protect the safety of any person, or to protect the rights and security of TatFinder and our users.
- In a business transfer, such as a merger, financing or sale of assets. We'll notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
- With your consent, or at your direction.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
5. Health-related information
We don't ask for health information. Some clients choose to tell an artist about allergies, skin conditions or other health details so the appointment is safe. If you share this in a booking or message, we use it only to deliver that booking. It is visible only to you, the artist, and staff who need to handle a support or safety issue. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
6. How long we keep information
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days. There are some exceptions: payment, tax and booking records we must keep by law, information needed to resolve disputes or prevent fraud, and backups that are overwritten on a regular schedule.
If you signed artist agreements with us in person, we keep a minimal record of each signing after you delete your account, for the period stated in the agreement: your name and email, your artist and shop name, which documents and versions you signed with their fingerprints, your signature, the date and the team member present. We keep it so either of us can show what was agreed if a question about past bookings or payments comes up. Your phone number, Instagram handle, styles and insurance answer are deleted with your account, here and in our customer-relationship records.
7. Your choices and rights
- Access and download. Go to Account → Privacy & data → Download my data.
- Correct. Edit your profile at any time, or ask us to correct something.
- Delete. Go to Account → Privacy & data → Delete account, or email us.
- Disconnect services. Disconnect calendar sync in the app. You can also remove TatFinder's access to your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
- Location. Turn off location access in your browser or device settings.
Depending on where you live (for example Washington, California, other U.S. states, or the EU/UK), you may have additional rights, such as the right to know what we've collected, to have it deleted or corrected, to object to or limit certain uses, or to appeal a decision we make about your request. To use any of these rights, see Your Privacy Choices or email us at the address below. We honor the Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out. We won't treat you differently for using them. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.
8. Security
We protect information with encryption in transit, access controls and providers with strong security practices. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password for the account you sign in with, and tell us right away if you think your account has been compromised.
9. Children
The Service is only for people 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
10. International users
We operate in the United States, and your information is processed in the U.S. and other countries where our providers operate. Those countries may have different data protection laws than where you live.
11. Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when our practices change and revise the "Last updated" date. If a change is significant, we'll let you know through the Service or by email before it takes effect.
